Ian Hagemann, MD, PhD has been selected as the Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellow for the term July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
“Ian’s contributions to education in pathology and to the medical school are truly outstanding. Among his accomplishments are numerous Distinguished Service Teaching Awards, selection as a chair for medical school admissions, and selection to the medical school curriculum reform committee,” Joseph Gaut, MD, PhD, Division Chief, Anatomic and Molecular Pathology said.
Ian’s submission for the Loeb Teaching Fellow project involved creating and implementing a video interview process with the aim of standardizing admissions to the School of Medicine.
“This timely proposal adds to Ian’s already significant contributions in the field of medical education and will undoubtedly be successful,” Gaut added.
The Carol B. and Jerome T. Loeb Teaching Fellows program provides fellows the opportunity to implement ideas that augment the education of medical students and residents.
Initiated in 2004 with a gift from Carol and Jerome Loeb and supported by The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the program was established to advance clinical education at Washington University School of Medicine by honoring faculty committed to clinical excellence and education, and encouraging teaching that excellence to residents and students.
