The Department of Pathology & Immunology contributes to the School of Medicine’s robust biomedical research endeavors. The skills and interests of the department’s faculty members span the range of cell biology and disease pathogenesis. Our research facilities are diverse and contemporary, and include a several state-of-the-art core laboratories that contribute to investigative activities throughout the medical school.

Because pathology combines basic research in disease pathogenesis with clinical medicine, our discipline is ideally positioned to lead in many areas of so-called translational research. Pathology will continue to play important roles in moving new scientific discoveries from the lab bench to the clinical bedside.

The department has outstanding physical support for its diverse basic, clinical, and translational research activities. Pathology faculty and programs are located at several sites on the medical campus.

Detailed information about specific research initiatives can be found on the Research Labs pagesDivision pages and on individual faculty bio pages.
