At the beginning of August, members from the Department of Pathology & Immunology attended the 71st AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in Anaheim, CA. The conference connects global leaders in clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostics, mass spectrometry, translational medicine, lab management, and other areas of laboratory medicine.
A number of department individuals were recognized during the meeting:

- Dennis J. Dietzen, PhD, Past President’s Award
- Mark Zaydman, MD, PhD (current PSTP trainee), Distinguished Abstract Award
- Poster: Extending the analytical measuring range of homogenous turbidemetric immunoassays using a novel kinetic calibration method
- Chris Farnsworth, PhD (former Clinical Chemistry Fellow and now LGM faculty), 2nd Place Student Oral Presentation Award
- Presentation: Parameters for Validating a Hospital Pneumatic Tube System: Lessons learned from closing a satellite laboratory
- Melissa Budelier, PhD, Richard Marshall Education Travel Award
