Dear colleagues,
Happy New Year! 2025 brings along new resolutions, new goals, and a heavy dose of winter storm. I want to thank our faculty, resident & fellow physicians, and staffs, who supported our clinical mission during the recent winter storms. Your dedication is a testimony of the outstanding quality of care we provide to the patients and clinical colleagues we serve.
After spending nearly 30 years at UCSF, I am honored to have this opportunity to lead one of the best institutions in our country – the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine. During the transition of my new role, I have been blessed by all the support I received from everyone in the department. In particular, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Richard Cote for his service and for guiding our department through many challenges in the past 5+ years. Dr. Cote’s leadership and vision put our department at the forefront of clinical services, scientific discovery, and education. Because of his strategic planning, our department has become an amazing institution that attracts many talented trainees, learners, colleagues and faculty.
As I mentioned during my interview for this position, I am committed to providing my best service to this department. In the coming days, I will do my best to get to know your work, to hear your voice, and to find the best approach to make your job more satisfying and more rewarding.
Thank you for this incredible opportunity to make our department the best place to work.
