The College of American Pathologists Annual Meeting (CAP19) recently took place in Orlando, Florida and a number of faculty and trainees from the Pathology & Immunology department were in attendance. While they were there they got to take part in a wide variety of educational and professional events, including didactic sessions, personal and professional workshops, as well as PathPAC and CAP Foundation events.
Highlights from the meeting included a keynote speaker, Jamie Heywood, who started a novel research and peer support platform through which patients connect and share information about their treatments, symptoms, and outcomes, a scientific plenary on the patient microbiome, and a special lecture on the evolution of molecular diagnostics presented by Carl T. Wittwer, MD, PhD. Many of the trainees also presented original research at the poster sessions and attended the Residents Forum.
