Over $500,000 in grants awarded to faculty in Pathology & Immunology

Takeshi Egawa, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pathology and Immunology, received a two-year $155,875 grant from the National Institutes of Health, entitled “The Role of TH1 CD4 T Cells in Control of Viral Infection.

Ali Ellebedy, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Pathology & Immunology, received a two-year $419,375 grant from the National Institutes of Health, entitled “Division of Labor in Human B Cell Responses to Influenza Viruses.”

Gautam Dantas, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pathology and Immunology, of Biomedical Engineering, and of Molecular Microbiology, was interviewed by NPR’s Science Friday, St. Louis Public Radio podcast about his group’s discovery of how bacteria eat antibiotics.

Jeffrey Gordon, M.D., Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor of Pathology and Immunology, Professor of Developmental Biology and of Medicine, and Director, Center for Genome Sciences, received the prestigious Copley Medal from the Royal Society in Britain, for outstanding contributions to science in founding and leading the field of gut microbiome research.
