Dr. S. Joshua Swamidass elected as AAAS Fellow

S. Joshua Swamidass, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Pathology & Immunology
at Washington University School of Medicine and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, was recently elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Swamidass is recognized by AAAS “for distinguished contributions to the field of deep learning in computational biology, and for extraordinary public outreach promoting an understanding of science among communities of faith,” the organization said in a statement.

“AAAS is proud to elevate these standout individuals and recognize the many ways in which they’ve advanced scientific excellence, tackled complex societal challenges and pushed boundaries that will reap benefits for years to come,” Sudip S. Parikh, Ph.D., AAAS chief executive officer and executive publisher of the Science family of journals, said in a statement.
