Research Interests

Dr. Swat’s research interests are in the field of lymphocyte development and activation, signal transduction, antigen presentation, and hematopoietic malignancy. After joining the faculty ranks at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Department of Pathology and Immunology, in 2001 as a principal investigator, he ran a research lab with focus on signaling pathways mediating hematopoietic development and cancer, and was promoted with tenure in 2007. He has been distinguished as a Scholar of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and contributed over 100 research reports including several highly-cited publications receiving over 10,000 citations combined. Dr. Swat has trained several postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in Immunobiology and MSTP programs in his lab. He entered the Clinical Track as a Clinical Genomics fellow in 2013 and became a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) in 2017 after earning his American Board of Clinical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics.
