Research Interests

I have a strong interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions with an emphasis on viral sabotage of host immunity. My current work is focused on 1) identification and characterization of viral proteins that specifically target MHC class I molecules or MHC class I-like proteins to avoid viral detection by cytotoxic T cells and NK cells; 2) using identified viral immune evasion proteins as probes for elucidating the molecular mechanisms of MHCI quality control in the ER and in the secretory pathway; 3) understanding the relationship and consequence of viral MHCI and NK cell evasion in the context of host-virus interaction.
