Research

My research interest is in the area of acute kidney injury biomarkers. We recently identified the protein myo-inositol oxygenase (MIOX) as a renal specific, cytoplasmic protein that is abundant within the proximal renal tubules. We developed a double monoclonal sandwich immunoassay to measure MIOX in plasma, serum, and urine. Current studies are underway characterizing the utility of this unique biomarker as an early indicator of renal tubular injury.

My clinical research interests pertain to medical and transplant-related renal disease.
